Newland Gives Back


Newland Communities is dedicated not only to building a healthy, thriving community in RiverLights, but that commitment is also extended to our surrounding neighbors. Newland has contributed in various ways, including, but not limited to:


Communities in Schools ($3,500):
CIS works directly insides public schools, helping vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out.

Pass Scholarships: 10 students (grades 3-6) who have been identified as not likely to pass their End of Grade tests to receive tutoring to help them be promoted to the next grade.

Afterschool Scholarships: to help support at risk students. This includes after school expenses, tutoring and mentoring, healthy snacks, materials, and field trips.

Nourish NC ($6,800):
Nourish is a 501-c(3) non-profit organization that provides hungry children with healthy food, empowering them to succeed in the classroom and in their community.

Spring & Summer Break Boxes: Provides food security over Spring and Summer Breaks with approximately 3 healthy meals per day, fresh produce, healthy snacks, milk and juice. 

Camp Schreiber Foundation ($4,000):
Camp Schreiber’s mission is to motivate and reward deserving teens who are pursuing their dream of higher education. The ultimate goal is to prepare students for 4 years of college education and to create future leaders with in their communities.

Scholarship Fund: Provides 4-hrs/wk of tutoring and extracurricular activities throughout the year, and a week long summer camp in July that focuses on team work, character building, educational goals and leadership through outdoor activities.

Direct to Schools Contribution ($12,650):
Newland shows dedication to our local schools by extending the commitment to build a thriving and healthy community by providing monetary contributions to select schools.

Mary C. Williams Elementary (K-5): Community Donor contribution allows for educators to provide better educational opportunities for their including school supplies, textbooks, healthy snacks, and school uniforms. In 2016, Newland provided enough support to help build a new outdoor track for the school. In 2017, Newland recarpeted the Kindergarten classrooms. In 2018, Newland provided new picnic tables for the school.

Williston Middle (6-8): A contribution to The TIGER CLUB goes directly to the school for needs ranging from field trips, books, teacher supplies, to uniforms for students in need.

New Hanover High (9-12): Contributor for the Lyceum program which provides higher educational opportunities for 100 high schools juniors and seniors per year, through teaching and enhancement, covering course materials, and providing a hand on experience with travel opportunities.

The Island Montessori Family School Association: (2016, 2017, 2018) Sponsor the Turtle Trot walk and 5k. This charter school is near Carolina Beach and we have sponsored at this level for the last 2 years.

Kids Making It ($2,500):

Kids Making It is a nationally recognized 501(c) (3) nonprofit youth program, teaching woodworking, life and entrepreneurial skills to at-risk youth from age 8 into young adulthood.

Apprentice and Skill Trades Program: $3,000 provides the foundation for older teens to learn basic vocational training in the fields of woodworking and construction.

A Bike for Every Child ($950):

Nonprofit organization, 501(c)(3), who refurbishes old/donated bikes and then donates bikes and helmets to children who cannot afford their own.

Bike Donation: $950 towards their next bike giveaway. Our donation is enough to fund 23 refurbished bikes and helmets to children in our community.

Junior League of Wilmington ($2,500):

The League is a 501(c) (3) organization at the forefront of social reform focusing on education, advocacy and sense of community.  The Junior League of Wilmington serves the local community through 10,000+ hours of volunteer service annually and gives raised funds back to local, education-driven nonprofits.

Sustaining Sponsorship: $2,500 annual sponsorship to aid the league with community outreach projects and direct financial contributions to local nonprofits.
